There is no separation between life and art in the practice of Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan. Their artworks are informed by their life experiences as immigrants, parents, and artists and the objects of daily life find their way into the artist couple's installations and build on their familiarity to create resonance and meaning. 

The Monsoon Southeast Asia Collection was proud to have contributed two works in Somewhere, Elsewhere, Nowhere at the Museum Macan, the first major museum survey of their work, Last Flight, 2009 and Left Wing Project (Belok Kiri Jalan Terus) Wing #12, 2017-2018.

The works in this exhibition reflect their varied long-term projects that delve into materiality and meaning, migration, identity and belonging, and the centrality of collaboration and community engagement in their artistic practice. The exhibition runs from 24 June to 10 October 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
