Suzann Victor
Suzann Victor is known for her monumental public artworks and context-based installations. Her works combine everyday architecture with both socio-political and scientific theory. Victor obtained her PhD in Visual Art in 2009, after receiving her B.A. Hons. (First Class) and M.A (Hons) from the University of Western Sydney. In 2001, Suzann Victor became the first female artist to represent Singapore at the 49th Venice Biennale. In 2009, Victor was also awarded the prestigious New York-based Civitella Ranieri Foundation fellowship following the completion of her doctorate. She has exhibited widely across Australia, Asia, Europe, including the 2nd Asia-Pacific Triennal of Contemporary Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane, Australia in 1996, the Sixth Havana Biennale, Cuba in 1997; the 6th Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju, Korea in 2006; Singapore Biennale 2013, 5 Stars: Art Reflects on Peace, Justice, Equality, Democracy, and Progress, Singapore Art Museum, Singapore in 2015; and Sunshower: Southeast Asian Contemporary Art from the 1980s to Now, National Art Centre Tokyo and Mori Art Museum, Japan in 2017. She lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
