Sutee Kunavichayanont
Sutee Kunavichayanont is a contemporary artist and curator from Thailand. His artistic practice is primarily focused on installation, combining intellectual and conceptual tactics with participative strategies to engage with politics, power, and social issues. He graduated with a Masters in Visual Arts from the Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, Australia in 1993 and a BFA (Graphic Arts) from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1989. Since 1991, he has had over 20 solo-exhibitions in Thailand, Japan, Amsterdam, Canada, France and Singapore. He has participated in various international exhibitions, including Concept, Context, Contestation: Art and the Collective in Southeast Asia, Goethe Institut, Hanoi in 2015; Negotiation Home History and Nation: Two decades of contemporary art in Southeast Asia 1991-2011, Singapore Art Museum, Singapore in 2011; The Art Exhibition, Celebration Art in the Reign of King Rama 9, 6 Decades of Thai Art, The Queen’s Gallery, Bangkok in 2006-2007; the 5thAsia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane Australia in 2006; and the 5th Busan Biennale in 1990. His works are in the collections of various public institutions including LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore; Singapore Art Museum; Mori Art Museum; Queensland Art Gallery,Brisbane Australia; Koc Foundation, Istanbul Turkey; Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Fukuoka, Japan; Thai Farmers Bank PCL, Bangkok, Thailand; and H&F Collection, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
