FractusNo.1
© Sopheap Pich

Fractus No. 1, (2023) consists of scraps of a large aluminium door, rice cooker pots, and other cooking vessels that have been hammered and fitted onto a bamboo frame. The specific bamboo used in this work is an indigenous species which grows in clumps and the slow process of negotiating light and space gives it its characteristic wavy structure. With this series, the artist expands his material language to include industrial metals, contrasting their textural and tonal properties with organic materials to create sculptures of quiet beauty.
