In February 2021, the military staged a coup d’etat and seized power in Myanmar, placing elected leaders Aung San Suu Kyi and others under arrest. Since then, the country has been in a deep political, economic, and humanitarian crisis.  In response to the massive civilian protests that erupted following the coup, the military violently cracked down on any form of opposition leading to the arrest, torture, and death of thousands. Moe Satt, along with several poets and artists, was arrested at one such protest and he spent 3 months in prison under appalling conditions. In this work, he defiantly photographed himself wearing prison clothes that had been printed with the 3-finger salute, a symbol of dissent from the popular movie, The Hunger Games, and now a sign of the revolution against the military dictatorship in Myanmar.
