MM Yu’s drip painting, other than, (2023) is an exploration of process and form. The monochromatic layers of paint that fill her shaped canvasses represent the convergence of material, gesture, and chance. Each triangular surface seems to pulse with a rhythmic energy that follows the direction of her material flows. The work acknowledges the triangle’s natural stability and balance as well as its use as a directional symbol. The union of the two triangles here suggests the potential for transformation created when societies come together to  overcome the forces that lead it towards opposing directions.
