Mit Jai Inn’s works defy strict classifications, and his pieces can register as painting, sculpture, or installation. Recognising the infinite possibilities of canvas and paint, Mit’s works have been presented in various iterations: rolled cylinders, tapestries or ribbons suspended from the ceiling, slit canvasses, double-sided paintings with bold patches of paint, large scale floor pieces, or painted strips of canvas woven together and looped as in Untitled, (2022).

Like his works from the Patchwork series, the piece evokes the lowland paddy plots framed by dykes and the woven patterns reflect the seasonal flows of cooperation within village communities. Mit’s abstraction is a language that is deliberately opposed to accepted definitions, one that recognises its material and aesthetic heritage in Western painting but is grounded in the geographic, cultural, and social fabric of his homeland.
