The Land of My Heart (Stadium)

Having lived overseas for a number of years, John Clang engages with notions of identity, memory, and time in his poignant photographic series, Land of My Heart, 2014.  The series is a love letter to a homeland, its people, and its rapidly changing urban landscape. For the artist, the works embody three elements of time: the past, through the hand-written extracts of his own fading memories and conversations; the present, through the urban landscape, architectural details, and design elements of a city in flux; and the eternal, through the iconic figure of the Singapore Girl, who has outlasted all currents of change and continues to embody the best of Singapore.
