Life in global cities, unfettered by geography or time, is at the core of John Clang’s (Singapore, b. 1973) artistic practice. His observations and ruminations of the mundane and banal, within a world in constant flux, allows his photography and film to exist at the confluences of the open-ended and the definitive, the surreal and the factual, the personal and the universal.

Clang holds a Master of Arts Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London. Since his first exhibition in 1993 at the now-defunct artist run space 5th Passage Artists in Singapore, he has had numerous solo and group shows locally and in  China, United States, Italy, Dubai, Turkey, and Germany. His works have entered the permanent collections of Singapore Art Museum and National Museum of Singapore. In 2010, he became the first photographer to garner the Designer of the Year award at the Singapore President's Design Award. As a filmmaker, he has participated in film festivals in the Netherlands and Singapore.

Clang lives and works in New York and Singapore.
