Frank Callaghan (b. 1980, UK) is a Manila-based artist working with photography. Working exclusively in the darkness of night, Callaghan uses long exposures to create his various photographic series.  Approaching photography as a language that can express what words cannot, Callaghan experiments with the mechanical boundaries of photography, playing with technical elements like exposure and compression. The artist is interested in how photography can compress form, line, colour and shadow into a flat surface and its ability to capture energies โ€“ โ€œof the artistic process, decisions, traces of memories, emotions, experiences, and gestures.โ€

His work has been exhibited in Manila, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, France, Denmark, and the Unites States. He received the Ateneo Art Award in 2015 and was shortlisted for the same award in 2010 and 2011. He holds a degree in Economics from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.
