Eugenia Alcaide (Philippines, b.1983) is well-known for her contemporary pieces using stretched silk canvas & thread. Her pioneering technique traces its origin from a project as a Fine Arts student at the University of the Philippines in which she created a “one continuous line-art portrait” that would later on become her final thesis. Aided by computer software and a mouse, the artist began drawing each portrait using just a single continuous stroke. She eventually translated this drawing technique using sewing thread on translucent silk a to create a physical dimension to her works.

She has presented several solo shows at Art Informal Gallery in Manila and her pieces have been included in various local and international art fairs.  Her works are included in several local and international private collections. She lives and works in Manila, Philippines.
