Dinh Q Lê’s artistic practice is grounded on the exploration of personal memories of historical events to question the way such events are perceived.
In Glitter’s Paradise, Lê confronts the story of the former British rock star Gary Glitter, who made news headlines when he was arrested and jailed in Vietnam in 2005 for molesting young children. In this work, the fragility of a throbbing animal heart placed on a man’s palm suggests the horrible depravity of Glitter’s assault on the beauty and innocence of childhood.
