Cian Dayrit (b. 1979, Philippines) graduated from the University of the Philippines with a BFA Major in Painting. His artistic practice engages in postcolonial discourse and socio-political critique, using the language of maps and protest imagery to create counter-narratives to privileged perspectives. Dayrit’s multi-media installations have been exhibited in various exhibitions including the 13th Gwangju Biennale in 2020; the 11th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art in 2020; the 10th Göteborg Biennal in 2019; the Dhaka Art Summit, Bangladesh, in 2018; and New Museum Triennial “Songs for Sabotage” in New York in 2018. He is a recipient of the 2017 Ateneo Art Award and the Cultural Centre of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artists Award in 2018. In 2019, he was an artist in residence at Gasworks, London. His work was included in the Biennale of Sydney in 2022. He is a member of SAKA, Artist Alliance for Land Reform and Rural Development, Philippines.
