Two Sentences, (2010) consists of two illuminated vintage typewriters which have been stripped of all buttons and modified to retain only selected letters. When the exposed metal arms are pressed in sequence, each typewriter illuminates a statement that is intended to serve as a beacon of light, both literally and figuratively, for truth, redemption, and hope. While the physical discomfort caused by pressing on the exposed metal arms alludes to the pain and suffering that is the human condition, the blinding glow that emanates from the typewriters reminds us how faith is a light that shines most brightly when darkness is complete.
