In Fine Tuned Universe, 2013, Charles Buenconsejo retreats from the anxious realities of city living to explore the theories of the universe that continue to fascinate him. This is his universe in contemplation: welding sparks reimagined as the uncontained energy that gave birth to stars, galaxies, and planets. For the artist, there is something comforting about the notion that that energy binds everything together. While observing construction sites that slowly transform the urban landscape, Buenconsejo allows the imagery of flashing lights and the steady hum of machinery to suggest similarly infinite possibilities that happened light years away.
