Angki Purbandono
Angki Purbandono studied at the Modern School of Design, Yogyakarta and the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta. He is one of the founders of Ruang MES 56, a media art collective and later he established PAPs (Prison Art Programs). Known for his photographic images created through a scanner rather than a camera, Angki’s compositions combine found objects in playful and unexpected ways. Angki has participated in many international exhibitions including Biennale Jogja XV in 2019, Bangkok Art Biennale in 2018, Chennai Photo Biennale in 2016, Jakarta Biennale XIII in 2009, the 4th Fukuoka Asian Triennale in 2009 and Space and Shadows – Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Germany in 2005. He was the recipient of the Asian Artist Fellowship at Changdong Art Studio, South Korea in 2006.
